The much anticipated Easton Twilight Criterium (https://eastontwilightcrit.com/) will kick off Memorial Day weekend on May 25, 2024 in Easton, PA. Lehigh Valley Health Network returns as presenting sponsor alongside additional partners Hindle Power, Bihler Medical, Crayola, Brown Daub Hyundai, BSI Corporate Benefits, UNDRBUDR, Unity Bank, Pinarello, and the Grand Eastonian Hotel & Suites. Headquartered in Easton, Bicycling Magazine, is also supporting the event as the race’s exclusive media partner.
This year, race organizers are adding The Ride to the Race presented by Crayola. Riders can choose their own route to arrive at Easton Public Market at 11am, where they’ll check in their bike at the bike valet, and join a party in the new plaza behind the market with other riders. Tickets Entry includes a wood-fired pizza and a cold beverage from Scratch / ShawneeCraft, a Crayola cycling cap, entry to win some fun raffle items from race partners, and access to a tented viewing area to watch races later in the day. The Ride to the Race hang at the Easton Public Market will wrap up at 1:15pm as the course opens for the Community Ride, where everyone can take some chill laps on the closed city streets before racing officially kicks off at 2:15pm. The Easton Twilight Criterium is also host to the PA State Criterium Championships for USA Cycling categories (1-4). In 2023, the slate of races had over 440 athletes, and this year has its sights on increasing registration to over 500 participants.
Thousands of spectators also came out to Easton in 2023 and enjoyed watching the racing from the various bars and restaurants on Northampton and Third Street or put down a blanket and enjoyed the view from Scott Park. The course itself is a short, technical, and relatively flat .8-mile course with six turns, where the pros will reach speeds of more than 40 miles per hour. The pro women’s race starts at 7:20 p.m, and the pro men’s race starts at 8:40 p.m.
In addition to the Ride to the Race and Community Ride, the Easton Twilight will feature a range of activities throughout the day. The day will feature the 1-mile Dash for Cash, starting at 6:15 p.m.with a prize purse of $1,000 each for the top three men and women. Prior to the start of the pro women’s and men’s events, the Wheelie Competition will kick off at 6:45 p.m at the start/finish; this unique event adds an extra layer of excitement to the Easton Twilight Criterium, captivating participants and spectators alike with its lighthearted yet competitive atmosphere.
